As the 16th Lok Sabha polls draw to a close and signs of defeat loom large over Congress, the party is busy preparing a contingency plan for a scenario that almost looks certain.
According to source within the party, it is being speculated that in the event of a defeat, PM Manmohan Singh will be made the sacrificial lamb and Rahul Gandhi
would be whisked away to safety. The party could use Singh's
ineffectiveness to curb corruption and punish the ministers involved in
scams.
Recent revelations made in a book- written by PM's former advisor
Sanjaya Baru, portraying Sing as a 'weak prime minister'- has further
dented his image.
