Eight
persons - five polling officials and three policemen - were killed and
seven others injured when suspected Maoists blew up their vehicle near
Asnajore village in Shikaripara police station of Jharkhand's Dumka
district.
Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar said a landmine was
triggered when they were returning from poll duty. "The tragedy could
have been averted had the policemen heeded security instructions
exhorting them to avoid travelling on any vehicle in Maoists-hit areas,"
said Kumar.
Jharkhand police spokesperson Anurag Gupta said that the rescue team has found bodies of eight people from the blast site.
